ATTMA – Air Tightness Testing Training – Level 1

AED7,500

SALIMUS is an ATTMA-Authorized Training Provider And the official distributor in the MENA Region for the USA-made TEC Minneapolis Building Airtightness Testing Systems, we are here to help our clients to:

“design insight,

and ventilate right

build tight”

Why Airtightness?

Airtightness is the measure of how much air leakage there is from a building. This is determined by carrying out an airtightness test, and the figure obtained from the testing is the air permeability value.

Air leakage can be measured by pressurizing or depressurizing the building to see how much air flows in or out of the building at a given pressure. Air tightness tests are useful to architects, building services designers, energy assessors, builders, services installers, fire sealers, air tightness testers, building controllers, building owners/ occupiers, etc. Airtightness testing is the best way to assess the performance of the building fabric in stopping the uncontrolled passage of air. It is also a very effective method of locating air leakage paths in a completed building.

This 4-day course provides the theory behind airtightness testing as well as hands on training. It culminates in a three-part examination which, when passed, will enable delegates to begin the process of registration. The practical demonstrations and practical exam on this course are carried out using Minneapolis blower door equipment.

Aims

A 4-day Training Course

The course is built around the ATTMA Technical Standards. These can be downloaded from ATTMA.These specify the standards that airtightness testers are expected to achieve in their work and hence the knowledge and skills taught on the SALIMUS course.

The course will provide sufficient theory and practice to enable delegates to test buildings using Minneapolis blower door equipment, pass the examinations and begin the registration process.

Delegates will have an overall understanding of technical standards, the use of Blower Door Equipment and how to interpret the test results provided by that equipment.

Who should attend?

Anyone who either intends to undertake airtightness testing or who is already doing so.

Pre-course knowledge
To get the most from this course :

  • Delegates should be computer literate.
  • Delegates should have a base knowledge of mathematics, physics and construction practice.
  • Delegates should understand the basic concept of building envelope areas.
  • Delegates in UAE and KSA should download and read ATTMA TS1 and ATTMA TS2 and bring copies with them when they attend the course. These can be downloaded from ATTMA.

Additional information:

  • This course is the first step in becoming registered with ATTMA as a level 1 tester. After attending the course and passing the exams, the next step is to carry out an initial review.
  • The initial review involves carrying out three unpaid airtightness tests, and presenting full test reports, including envelope area calculations, to SALIMUS for review.
  • The initial review is normally face-to-face, however it can be carried out remotely if distance is an issue. The cost of the initial review is included in the course fee.
  • After undertaking the Initial Review, candidates must demonstrate to ATTMA that they have adequate insurance, and access to equipment with valid UKAS calibrations. They must also pay a fee to ATTMA for their first year’s registration.
  • The fee for the course is 7,500.00 AED + VAT for the first delegate and 7,000.00 AED + VAT for

subsequent delegates. The cost of the initial review is included in this fee.

  • Testers and airtightness testing firms are subject to registration fees, lodgement fees and audit fees. These are stated on the ATTMA website.
  • A full set of TEC Minneapolis Building Airtightness Testing Systems costs around $5,578 + VAT (including initial calibration) for more information please feel free to contact or Sales Department on Info@Salimus.com
